It’s an active functioning system that provides protection for personnel and Equipment.The purpose of the ground system is to create a low resistance path to earth ground for electrical surges and transient voltage. Lightning, fault current, circuit switching and electrostatic discharge are the common causes of these surges and transient voltages. A proper design grounding system must be visually verifiable, adequately signed to handle expected currents safety, and one that directs these potentially damaging currents away from sensitive communication equipment. All metallic component that are part of the data center infrastructure (rack, ladder rack, cabinets, cable tray, ) must be bonded to the grounding system.Proper grounding minimizes the detriment effects of electrical surges and is essential for efficient network performance.
